According to the 2017 Canadian Survey on Disability:
- 22% or approximately one in five Canadians aged 15 years or older identify as living with a disability.
- Persons with disabilities face lower employment rates and lower levels of income compared to other Canadians
- 6 million Canadians with disabilities were unable to afford required aids, devices, or prescription medications due to cost.
