Easter Seals Art Contest - Easter Seals Canada

The Easter Seals Children’s Art Contest is held every year in celebration of National AccessAbility Week (May 30 to June 5, 2021) and Red Shirt Day (June 2, 2021).

Throughout National AccessAbility Week and Red Shirt Day 2021, we are asking kids across Canada to draw or paint their interpretation of the theme “When We Include Everyone, We All Win!” and submit it to our Art Contest.

2021 Theme: When We Include Everyone, We All Win!

Everywhere we look – in schools, in sports teams, in clubs, and even just in groups of friends – we find different people with different abilities and talents. Every person has something special and unique to contribute to the groups they belong to.

Unfortunately, there are also barriers that prevent people living with disabilities from participating. Barriers might be physical, like a building with no ramps. Barriers can also be things like social exclusion, for example, intentionally trying to stop a person who lives with a disability from joining a group or activity.

When everyone is included, our differences become a huge strength. That is why Easter Seals Canada is asking children across the country to get creative and show us their interpretation of the idea: When We Include Everyone, We All Win!

The Easter Seals Children’s Art Contest is open to all children in Canada up to 15 years old. Submissions in the contest must meet the following criteria:

  • Original Submission: The artwork must be original and created entirely by the child that is entering the contest.
  • Medium: The artwork can be created with any medium (i.e. markers, crayons, paint, etc).
  • Size: The artwork should be no smaller than letter-sized paper (8.5 x 11 inches) and no larger than tabloid/ledger sized paper (11 x 17 inches).

It is free to take part in this contest. There is NO COST to participate. Children/teens can submit as many drawings or paintings as they wish.

Email a photo of your drawing to info@easterseals.ca by 11:59pm on Saturday, June 5, 2021.

Your email must include:

  1. Your name, age, the name of your school and the city and province where you live.
  2. A brief explanation of your artwork (150 words or less).
  3. A filled and signed parent/guardian permission and release form.
  4. A photo of your work of art!

If your artwork is selected among the top winning entries, you will be invited to send your original drawing/painting to Easter Seals Canada. Submitted artworks will not be returned and will become the property of Easter Seals Canada.

Art Contest submissions will be judged in two categories: Category A (up to 10 years old) and Category B (11-15 years old). Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 submissions in each category:

  • First Prize (1 per category):
$100 Gift Card, Certificate & Easter Seals Gift Pack
