About the Position:

This position will be responsible for executing and supporting all fund development activities for Easter Seals Canada.

Reporting directly to the Vice-President of National Development and working with the development team at Easter Seals Canada, the Fund Development Assistant will help support a variety of tasks related to brining in money from individual and corporate donors/partners to sustain our organization’s growth.  Much of the day’s work will be spent researching and producing print/electronic projects including and not limited to funding proposals, grant submissions and annual fundraising campaigns.   As well as build and enhance the Easter Seals brand by creating compelling and persuasive communication materials for internal and external audiences.

The following description provides a brief outline of the duties and responsibilities of the position as well as the skills and characteristics that would help ensure a successful placement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop customized solicitation proposals, sponsorship packages, briefing documents, grant submissions and presentation documents intended to secure major gifts and sponsorship revenues
  • Conduct proactive research using online research databases to support the identification and solicitation of individual and corporate donations
  • Match donors’ funding priorities with the work of the organization and its funding needs.
  • Write and create content for stewardship engagement and impact reports
  • Participate in cultivation/stewardship activities for existing donors and national partners
  • Develop print and digital collateral to be used for fund development reports, and presentations.
  • Champion the brand both internally and externally.
  • Maintain calendars of grant progress, due dates and reports.
  • Other duties as assigned which may include preparing materials for distribution and handle copying, filing, mailing, and e-mailing.

Skills and Characteristics of Successful Interns: 

The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in working in the charity sector, and an interest in supporting those persons living with a disability.  Essential Skills include:

  • Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written are necessary
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including telephone manners
  • Excellent organizational skills; accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proactive, creative, and enthusiastic.
  • Collaborative, Flexible and Adaptable

Education and Other Experience:

  • Diploma/Degree in related field
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher is required)
  • Demonstrated ability in writing and developing sponsorship packages, donor reports, and digital collateral
  • Some or related experience in donor/prospect research, an asset
  • Prior training/experience using MS Publisher, Adobe Photoshop, Apple iMovie and/or WordPress, an asset
  • Graphic design, video production and web development experience, an asset.

Research Assistant Department: Fund Development and Communication Office

Reports to: Manager of Fund Development and Communications

Roles and Responsibilities

The Research Assistant will have specific responsibilities including but not restricted to:

Research and develop an archive of the history of Easter Seals Newfoundland and Labrador.

Research and develop a database of new donors.

Update an existing database that targets key stakeholders including but not limited to government officials, supporters, sponsors, partners, participants, parents, media and the general public.

Support the organizations strategic planning committee with the development of policies and procedures.

Skills

Post-secondary degree or diploma is an asset. Combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • Excellent grammatical and spelling skills
  • Experience managing large and small scale research and development projects
  • Ability to stay organized and maintains attention to detail, while independently working on multiple competing projects and deadlines
  • Ability to work as a team and a strong commitment to collaboration
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Google Drive and Google Docs
  • Knowledge of prospect research

Meet The Job Creation Partnerships (JCP) program eligibility requirements:

  • Be a resident of the province;
  • Canadian citizens or permanent residents legally entitled to work in Canada;
  • Meet the definition of EI-eligible;
  • Be approved by the Department under Section 25 of the Employment Insurance Act as insured participants who are active EI claimants; and
  • Have an employment plan that identifies that the JCP work experience being considered supports a reasonable occupational goal.

Easter Seals Canada is looking for a Volunteer French Translator with a strong mastery of written and oral French (preferably Quebec French) to assist with translations of English language documents and materials into French to support our development, programming, and marketing and communication initiatives. This position is suitable for students and retirees. The Volunteer French Translator can primarily work from home/remotely in tandem with staff; and may be required to work/meet at our office from time to time.

The Volunteer French Translator will report to the Senior Manager, National Corporate Partnership, and also work with other staff as required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work in collaboration with staff to translate English language documents into French – for print or oral publications – as required, in a timely manner.
