A Summer at Camp Changes a Life Forever | UNSTOPPABLE® STORIES
If you’ve ever been to camp, you know what a fun and amazing experience it can be. You meet new friends, try new things, make unforgettable memories and learn new skills that you carry with you for the rest of your life. For kids living with disabilities, Easter Seals camp is even more than that.
Easter Seals’ specialized, fully-accessible camps are a home away from home—a special place where kids can just be themselves and focus on their abilities…not their disabilities. Camp is a place where everything is accessible and there are no boundaries, no barriers, no limits to what they can achieve. For these kids, Camp is an incredible, unforgettable, time-of-their-life experience that plays an important role in shaping who they are and what they become.
Every summer, more than 6,000 kids living with disabilities attend one of 14 Easter Seals summer camps across Canada. At camp, every child—no matter their disability—receives the encouragement and support they need to challenge themselves, build confidence and make the most of their abilities. With fully-accessible facilities, specialized equipment, modified programming and camper to counselor ratios as low as one-on-one, Camp provides a sense of freedom and independence in an environment where anything is possible. Camp is a place of “yes I can!”
