The #UnstoppABLE Paper Egg Campaign

The Paper Egg Campaign is a national point-of-sale (POS) fundraising and awareness campaign.

Every spring, our national and local retail partners all across Canada make colourful Easter Seals Paper Eggs available to their customers. In return for a donation, customers get a Paper Egg to sign with their name, and the signed Paper Egg is then put up on windows and walls around the store to create a highly visible and powerful display of the community’s support for persons with disabilities, accessibility and inclusion. As the campaign progresses, the visual impact of the Paper Eggs continues to grow—so too does the level of awareness for Easter Seals and the participating retailer. Funds raised from the campaign are then directed towards enabling Easter Seals to offer its many programs and services for persons with disabilities and their families in the province where the store is located.

Easter Seals is always looking to partner with new national retailers and businesses to continue to grow the Paper Egg Campaign across Canada. For more details about national sponsorship opportunities and benefits, contact us at partnerships@easterseals.ca.

Red Shirt Day (of Action for Accessibility & Inclusion)

Red Shirt Day is a national campaign started by Easter Seals Canada in 2019 to boost awareness and action among Canadians in the area of accessibility and inclusion of persons of all abilities. It is celebrated on the Wednesday of National AccessAbility Week each year.

On Red Shirt Day, Canadians are encouraged to come together and wear red in schools, workplaces and spaces everywhere in order to create a visible display of solidarity: to show their support for persons and families who are living with disabilities, celebrate the achievements of people living with disabilities, and to pledge their commitment to help create a fully accessible and inclusive society that honours and values the contributions of people of all abilities in all aspects of life in Canada.

They are also encouraged to educate themselves on accessibility issues, and to post a photo of themselves on social media (with the hashtags #RedShirtDay, #RedForAccessAbility) along with their Red Shirt Day Pledge: a personal commitment to educate and inform themselves on issues related to disability, and/or do what they can – individually and collectively – to remove physical, attitudinal and systemic barriers in their schools, workplaces and communities in order to make Canada a truly accessible and inclusive places/environments for people of all abilities.

Each year, Easter Seals organizes a number of events/activities to mark and promote Red Shirt Day, such as an Art Contest for Children. Learn more about Red Shirt Day here. To discuss and explore ways to partner with Easter Seals on Red Shirt Day, contact partnerships@easterseals.ca.
