Assistive and adaptive technologies such as mobility equipment and communication devices, as well as home modifications such as ramps, elevators and ceiling track systems, enable individuals living with disabilities to maximize their abilities, exercise their independence, communicate and actively take part in their communities. Each year, thousands of people across the country benefit from the assistive equipment and adaptive technology supports provided by Easter Seals.

Alberta, 2019: Letter from a Family
Dear Easter Seals and CIBC Children’s Foundation,

Evan M. in his new powerchair
Thank you so much for your support in helping us fund the cost of a replacement powerchair for our son, Evan. Your assistance has lifted such a heavy financial burden from our family’s shoulders – and we can’t say thank you enough for making this happen for Evan. He is a very active teenager who plays powerchair hockey, is part of many activities in school and has many friends who love to interact with him at home and out of school. Evan’s powerchair is his only means of independence and to not have the worry of literally being stopped in his tracks is such a gift!
When Evan’s current powerchair began to fail mechanically, we just didn’t know how we were going to even begin to find the money that it was going to take to keep him on the move, and your Children’s Foundation helped us solve that huge problem.
Evan will now be able to continue to just be Evan! A happy, active, independent teenager – without the stress of having to be side-lined from life.
As a parent, you always want to be able to provide the best possible opportunities and promote an independent, active lifestyle for your child and you have helped us do just that. Both Tim and I can now re-focus on living our best family life with Evan, and for the CIBC Children’s Foundation to have been a part of that, we are forever grateful!
Kindest regards always!
Angela, Tim & Evan M.
