Easter Seals is a national, charitable organization. We are committed to fully enhancing the quality of life, well-being and independence of Canadians living with disabilities.

Since 1922, Easter Seals Canada and its provincial member organizations have been working to create a more inclusive and accessible society that includes and honours the contributions and potential of Canadians of all abilities. We respond to the needs and aspirations of Canadians living with disabilities by providing support programs and services that promote access, inclusion and opportunity.

PROGRAMS & SERVICES

Easter Seals provides life-changing programs and services that enhance access, independence, social inclusion and quality of life for Canadians living with disabilities. Programs and services vary from province to province.

Assistive & Adaptive Equipment

Easter Seals provides financial assistance and direct-to-client programs to help ensure that Canadians living with disabilities have access to the essential assistive, adaptive, communications and learning technology – such as wheelchairs/powerchairs, walkers, speech and hearing aids, home modifications such as ramps and elevators – that they need to get around, live, work and play while maximizing their independence.

Adaptive Sports, Recreation & Leisure Programs

Easter Seals offers a range of adaptive sports, recreation and leisure programs such as sledge hockey, wheelchair basketball, boci, and much more. These programs encourage and create opportunities for Canadians living with disabilities to get active and socialize, leading to greater physical and mental well-being for individuals, and stronger integration in the community.

Educational Scholarships & Employment Services

Easter Seals offers academic scholarships and bursaries to help with the cost of higher education, as well as pre-employment and job placement/coaching services. These services are geared toward assisting youth and adults pursue their dreams and aspirations, and secure meaningful employment.

Accessible Summer Camp Experiences

Easter Seals offers accessible summer camp experiences for children, youth, adults and families. Mostly held at dedicated Easter Seals facilities, the camps provide participants with the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, take part in activities that they would otherwise have limited access to such as rock climbing, boating, rope courses, build skills and cultivate life-long friendships and memories.

Access 2 Card

The Access 2 Card Program is an Easter Seals initiative that allows people with permanent disabilities to receive either free or significantly discounted admission for their support person at over 400 partner venues across the country, including movie theatres, cultural attractions and recreation facilities.

Interested in volunteering opportunities with Easter Seals?
We want to connect with individuals who are passionate about helping people. Volunteering with us helps inspire potential, build community, and enrich the lives of individuals with disabilities and medical conditions. There are many types of individual and group volunteering opportunities available with Easter Seals.

Meet one of our amazing volunteers!

Jordy Davis is one of hundreds of volunteers across Canada that assist in various roles and who help make an impact on the mission and work of Easter Seals. She has been volunteering for Easter Seals in Manitoba since 2017. In her volunteer role, Jordy assists staff with a number of administrative duties including making calls to donors to ensure that they are properly thanked for their support, and calling businesses to invite them to contribute or take part in our upcoming events. In two years, she has made at least 5,000 phone calls!

Get Involved

ANNUAL EVENTS & CAMPAIGNS

Explore the wide variety of ways that you can get involved with Easter Seals. Take part in Drop Zone, our signature national fundraising event, or sign-up to participate in any one of our many provincial and local events near you!

Drop Zone

Look up, look way up! The Drop Zone is a knee-shaking, heart-racing event where Canadians become superheroes for a day by rappelling off a towering high-rise building in support of Canadians living with disabilities. Join us for this unique jaw-dropping event, and earn the ultimate bragging rights!

Paper Egg Campaign

Each spring, look out for Easter Seals’ Paper Egg Campaign at various stores and outlets in your community. During the campaign, these partner stores invite their customers to donate to Easter Seals at the counters. This March to April, show your support for people living with disabilities by asking your cashier for an Easter Seals Paper Egg.

Achilles St. Patrick’s Day 5km Charity Run

Achilles St. Patrick’s Day 5km Charity Run: Easter Seals Canada is proud to partner with Achilles Canada on the St. Patrick’s Day 5km Charity Run held in Toronto in March each year. Canadians are invited to join the Easter Seals Canada team, fundraise and run the 5km course in the heart of downtown Toronto while decked out in their best St. Paddy’s Day outfits. Come join in the fun and revelry!

Annual Red-Shirt Day

Red Shirt Day is an initiative started by Easter Seals Canada to raise awareness of existing accessibility issues and barriers. Red Shirt Day also celebrates the achievements and contributions of people living with disabilities. By wearing red on Red Shirt Day, you can show your support in creating a visible display of solidarity for persons who are living with disabilities. Red Shirt Day is held on the last Wednesday of each May, during National AccessAbility Week.

Organize Your Own Event

You can organize your own personal or company fundraiser to support Easter Seals and Canadians living with disabilities. Whether you’re requesting donations in lieu of gifts for your birthday or an anniversary, hosting a fundraising dinner or games night at home, a swear jar at the office or casual jeans Friday, there are many fun and creative ways to fundraise for Easter Seals. Other Events

In addition to Easter Seals’ signature national fundraising events such as The Drop Zone and Paper Egg Campaign, Easter Seals provincial organizations also host many additional exciting and fun events in cities and communities across Canada all year round! Example of events include Snowarama Snowmobile Races, Wine and Dine Galas, Golf Tournaments, Swims, Regattas, and much more!
