Giving Tuesday Now

Support Your Local Easter Seals

#GivingTuesdayNow is a global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5, 2020 as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.

Let’s come together to drive a spike of generosity, citizen engagement, business and philanthropy activation, and support for communities and non-profits around the world. Together we can heal. Be a part of the solution: show your support and rally to do some good!

Help your local Easter Seals continue to provide much needed support to children, youth and adults living with disabilities in Canada by making a one-time donation or signing-up to become a monthly donor.

Many individuals and families who are living with disabilities – who are among Canada’s most vulnerable and marginalized groups – face multiple challenges and obstacles on a daily basis. Living with disabilities present challenges and costs that most Canadians do not have to contend with or worry about: from expenses related to special supplies and materials required for daily living, to the cost of purchasing, maintaining and repairing expensive accessibility equipment and devices that are required for communications and mobility. These challenges and circumstances have been made worse due to COVID-19.

Sign-up to be a monthly donor to Easter Seals and join the Easter Seals “GEMS” – a special group of individuals who care and are committed to helping people and families living with disabilities now and over the long-term.

We are looking for 100 individuals to come forward by May 31, 2020, and pledge their support as monthly donors. 100 monthly donors can help 100 people living with disabilities in Canada!

The Impact of Your Donations: Changing Lives

Michelle’s Story

Michelle has been accessing Adaptive Technology services offered by Easter Seals Saskatchewan since 1977. At that time, she was using a head pointer and a sheet of symbols to communicate. Fast forward to today where she’s using one of the most advanced and innovative devices in the country.

A small grey dote placed on Michelle’s forehead operates an infra-red sensor connected to her device and allows here to communicate with the world around her. Aside from letting her select words, phrases and emotions to share, the device also allows her to control aspects of her external environment, including her television, fan, lamp, and depending on the season, her Christmas tree!

Caleb’s Story

Caleb is an extremely happy, outgoing and energetic 7-year-old with severe Cerebral Palsy and epilepsy. He may have a lot more challenges than the average child or adult but this does not stop him from smiling everyday.

Since he was 2 years old, Caleb  has been using a Buddy Roamer walker to get around but has finally gotten too tall for it. Donations from Easter Seals’ supporters enabled Caleb’s parents to purchase an extension for his walker as well as a special toilet seat, so that Caleb can continue to move independently, and have the privacy and space he needs when using the toilet.
