Easter Seals New Brunswick is urgently seeking a new Executive Director.

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is an experienced not-for-profit professional. This position is responsible for providing overall leadership, guidance and strategic direction in the management and delivery of the programs, projects and services required to fulfil Easter Seals New Brunswick’s mandate.

This is a demanding and exciting position that requires an Executive Director who is a strategic thinker, skilled at building strong relationships and seizing new opportunities that advance the cause, passionate about advocacy and able to achieve financially sustainable results with limited resources. The position is based in Fredericton, NB. Some travel and flexible hours will be required.

Position: Volunteer Mentor

Location: Online – Volunteer Remotely from Home (You can be based anywhere in Canada).

About the Position

Easter Seals Canada is looking for enthusiastic and resourceful individuals to volunteer with Easter Seals as Volunteer Mentors for high school students living with disabilities. Approximately 25 to 50 volunteers from the following provinces are needed: Alberta, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Saskatchewan.

Each Volunteer Mentor will be paired with a high school student, and are expected to meet with the student, primarily online, for one hour at least once a month. The primary role of the Volunteer Mentor is to provide encouragement, guidance, motivation and support to students in their studies/academic career, and assist them in preparing for post-secondary studies (as well as summer jobs, or to transition to the labour force after graduating high school if they so choose). The overall aim of the mentorship program is to promote educational success, graduation and successful transition to post-secondary education or the workplace among students with disabilities currently in high school.

Candidates interested in the Volunteer Mentor position will have to participate in an interview. Shortlisted candidates will have to undergo a police check, and participate in an orientation/training session prior to being paired with a student mentee.

Desired Skills and Characteristics

The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in volunteering and in supporting persons living with a disability.  Essential Skills include:

  • Trustworthy, Reliable, proactive, creative/resourceful, collaborative, adaptable, patient and diplomatic.
  • Can carry out volunteer duties with limited supervision
  • Able to communicate online, via email, Zoom/Teams, and computer/internet literate
  • Ideally, have attended and graduated from a post-secondary institution  (trade school, college, university) in Canada
  • Have at least two to three years work experience

About the Position

Easter Seals Canada is looking for a Volunteer French Translator with a strong mastery of written and oral French (preferably Quebec French) to assist with translations of English language documents and materials into French to support our development, programming, and marketing and communication initiatives. This position is suitable for students and retirees. The Volunteer French Translator can primarily work from home/remotely in tandem with staff; and may be required to work/meet at our office from time to time.

The Volunteer French Translator will report to the Senior Manager, National Corporate Partnership, and also work with other staff as required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work in collaboration with staff to translate English language documents into French – for print or oral publications – as required, in a timely manner.

Skills and Characteristics

The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in working in the charity sector, and an interest in supporting those persons living with a disability.  Essential Skills include:

  • Bilingual, with outstanding English and French (preferably Quebec French) communication skills, both oral and written – at the College/University level.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office -Word.
  • Excellent organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Can work with limited supervision to achieve results and meet deadlines in fast pace environment.
  • Proactive, creative, technically savvy, and diplomatic.
  • Collaborative, flexible and adaptable.
