Small Gestures Make a Big Difference During Annual Easter Seals™ Paper Egg Campaign

TORONTO, ON (March 28, 2011) – The 11th annual Easter Seals Paper Egg Campaign begins March 28th and runs to April 24th to benefit Canadians with disabilities. Shoppers at participating retailers purchase colourful paper eggs, which when posted on store walls demonstrate their collective support in making a big difference in their communities.

In 2010, participating retailers and shoppers collectively raised $766,352 for Easter Seals one toonie at a time. Since 2001, $6.2 million has been raised to ensure that Canadians with disabilities have the technology and experiences required to lead active and fulfilling lives.

“A small gesture really does make a big difference,” says Max Beck, CEO of Easter Seals Canada. “The Easter Seals Paper Egg campaign is a great way for Canadians to give a little while collectively making a big impact. We cannot thank our participating retail partners and customers enough for their continued support and generosity.”

Easter Seals is pleased to welcome back Top National Sponsors, tb!s the bargain shop. In 2010 tb!s stores, customers and partners raised more than $212,000 for Easter Seals programs and services. In total, tb!s has raised over $658,220 nationally for the campaign since 2007.

“The purpose and goal of this campaign resonates across the country in the hearts of all of us,” says Tracey Herrington, tb!s Manager of the Easter Seals Paper Egg Campaign. “It is extremely rewarding to know that we have become an integral partner in raising funds to benefit these extraordinary kids and their families across Canada in all our communities.”

tb!s hosts launches on March 28th in Port Credit, London, Perth, and Corunna, Ontario, and Halifax, NS, and Charlottetown, PEI. For details, visit www.paperegg.ca.

MARCH 12 – APRIL 8, 2012

By signing your name to a simple egg, thousands will make a difference in the lives of Canadians with disabilities!

Celebrating it’s 12th anniversary, The Paper Egg Campaign sees retailers and restaurants across the country sell Paper Eggs to raise awareness for Easter Seals programs and services. For four weeks leading up to Easter, Eggs are sold for $2 each ($1 in Saskatchewan) and all proceeds support local programs in three key areas:
  • Unique, life-changing camp programs for kids with disabilities;
  • Assistive technology and mobility devices to maximize independence for Canadians with disabilities; and
  • Community support such as employment services and local sport programs to inspire active, productive lives in the populations we serve.
Buy a Paper Egg when you shop at one of our retail partners and you’ll help improve the lives of the 146,000 Canadians who rely on Easter Seals programs each year.
