POSITION: Manager, Development & Communications
REPORTING TO: National Director, Development
TEAM: Development
Job Summary
Reporting to the National Director, Development, the Manager, Development & Communications has three key functions: securing and stewarding national corporate partners to support our key events and campaigns; leading the communications and PR efforts of the National office; and working with our regional events staff to manage our annual national events and campaigns.
With a goal of increasing our annual revenue, the Manager works with the Director to strategize, secure and manage partnerships with the corporate sector that are relevant to our mission and our key fundraising efforts: the Easter Seals Drop Zone event, 24 Hour Relay and the Paper Egg retail campaign.
As a strategic communicator, the Manager leads on the communications and PR strategy and execution in support of our events, campaigns and our annual Easter Seals Month in March, including media tracking and reporting.
Representing the National office of our federation of Easter Seals organizations, the Manager leads the efforts of the Events Committee, ensuring the implementation of best practices and consistent recognition of our national corporate partners
in the rollout of our events and campaigns in provinces across the country.
Specific Requirements
Oversee Communciations programs (40% of role)
- Develop and execute communication plan for Easter Seals Month, including liaising with provincial offices
- Oversee and facilitate creative development on the Paper Egg and Drop Zone programs
- Oversee and enforce brand identity standards
- Edit and produce Our Stories, Easter Seals Canada’s quarterly e-Newsletter
- Produce stakeholder communiqués such as the Paper Egg Scrambler
- Write and edit stories for the national web site
- Contribute to social networking feeds
- National media liaison
- Work with provincial partners to facilitate event media campaigns
- Oversee distribution of Cision media reporting
- Produce media analysis reports for the provinces and sponsors
- Facilitate internal stakeholder communication, including posting important documents on Backpack and sending out updates through Newsroom
Acquire, develop and steward corporate partnerships (30% of role)
- Research and qualify prospects for our key national events and campaigns
- Write, deliver and follow up on sponsorship proposals
- Attend pitch meetings as required
- Secure new partnerships with specific annual targets
- Develop and execute stewardship plans with key corporate donors, maintaining key relationships and growing support over time
Facilitate national events and campaigns (30% of role)
- Lead contact for all national and, where required, regional event sponsors regarding sponsor deliverables and recognition obligations
- Lead contact for national suppliers
- Management of the Events Committee, comprised of Event Managers from 10 provincial offices. Includes regular management of meetings and creation and distribution of agendas and minutes
- Liaise with provincial events managers on matters related to their events
- Produce national events final reports, including analysis, best practices and suggestions for improvement
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
- 5-7 years demonstrated success in fundraising and development
- University degree or relative post-secondary accreditation
- Demonstrated skills in project management, prospect research, proposal creation and budget management
- Excellent presentation, writing, editing and proofreading skills
- Strong verbal/written communicator
- Knowledge of the suite of Microsoft Office programs
- Corporate communications/public relations experience an asset
- Experience working in the charitable sector an asset
- Experience with Backpack, Salesforce, BIG Online and/or Adobe InDesign an asset
- Understanding of web development process an asset
- Writing Knowledge of French an asset
